Frequently asked questions

Can I upgrade or downgrade at any time?
Yes - you can switch plans at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrading does not issue any refund: you've already paid for the current period, so you keep your current plan's features until that period ends, and we simply stop billing the higher amount after that. The new (lower) plan kicks in on what would have been your next renewal date.
What happens to my links if I downgrade?
Your existing links will keep working - we never break a short URL. You'll just lose access to higher-tier features (like longer analytics retention, campaigns, or A/B testing) until you upgrade again.
What's the deal with short slugs?
A "slug" is the bit after the domain - the abc in z4ps.uk/abc. There are only a few thousand 1- and 2-character slugs in existence, so we ration them. Higher plans get an allocation of these premium short slugs; everyone can create 4+ character slugs without limit.
What counts as a "new link per month"?
Every short URL you create counts as one new link, and the counter resets on your billing date. Editing or deleting an existing link does not count. If you hit the cap, existing links keep redirecting - you just can't create new ones until the next cycle (or until you upgrade).
Is there a free trial on the paid plans?
You can start on Spark for free and upgrade whenever you're ready. We don't run timed trials on Bolt, Surge, or Tesla - you can cancel any time and keep using your plan's features until the end of the period you've already paid for; no partial refund is issued.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept PayPal only. You can pay with any card or bank account linked to your PayPal wallet at checkout. UK VAT is added where applicable.
Is there an API?
Yes — Bolt and above can create, list, update, delete and pull click stats for their links via a REST API authenticated with a personal API key. See the API documentation for endpoints and examples; keys are managed from your dashboard once you're on Bolt or higher.
How does team billing work?
A team is billed per seat on whichever tier you choose (Bolt, Surge or Tesla) — one per teammate. If you own the team and already hold a personal subscription on the same tier or higher, your own seat is covered by that personal plan, so you pay only for your teammates and never twice for yourself. (A lower personal tier doesn't earn a discount — a Surge team seat is a Surge seat.) Everyone in the team shares that tier's link quota, analytics window and features. Removing a teammate frees their seat straight away for reuse; it doesn't reduce what you're paying until you deliberately lower the seat count. If your personal plan later lapses, that free seat simply goes and you'll be asked to renew or add a seat before inviting anyone new — nothing stops working in the meantime. Only the team owner can buy seats or change the team's plan, and just like a personal plan, a team's links never stop working — if a subscription lapses, over-limit links simply become read-only.
